Artwork around the School

ART 1, 2, 3, and 4
Hancock High School offers both beginning and advanced levels of art courses in a spacious, state-of-the-art studio.
Art 1 is designed to build fundamental knowledge and skills. The first semester concentrates on drawing techniques in both graphite and pastel, and the second semester exposes students to a variety of two- and three-dimensional media, including clay, linocut printmaking, Pariscraft sculpture, and watercolor.
Art 2 gives students a chance to further build their skills and explore additional media. Projects are longer and less structured, and students have an opportunity to work in colored pencil, charcoal, pastel, pen-and-ink, and acrylic paint, along with executing ceramics and printmaking projects.
Art 3 and Art 4 are the advanced art classes. Students work independently on projects of their own choosing as they build a portfolio that includes a wide variety of media and techniques. And it is the advanced art students that work on projects that are permanently installed around the school building.
