Barkell Parent Teacher Organization

“…when parents are involved in school, children go farther in school and the schools they go to are better.”

Anne Henderson, Nancy Berla
from "A New Generation of Evidence: The Family is Critical to Student Achievement"

About Barkell PTO

Who are the members of the PTO?
Parents, teachers and our Principal. If you have a child attending Barkell, you are a member of the PTO.

What is the PTO objective?
Our objective is to provide funds, programs, resources and services that will enrich the education of every child at our school.

Why does the PTO fundraise?
To meet our objective and provide items that are no longer covered by our school budget, we must fundraise. Though it may not be our favorite task, it is necessary. We must raise money to continue providing our children with playground equipment, school equipment, teacher supplies, assemblies, and other experiences that we have in the past.

Why should I get involved?
We need your help and so do your children. Volunteering doesn’t have to mean a huge time commitment. We understand it is increasingly more difficult to find time to give, but please, whatever your schedule allows, we have need of you! We have tasks that can be performed in the evenings, during the day or that don’t even involve coming to the school at all.

Meetings and Events

Meetings are typically the 3rd Tuesday of each month at 3:30pm (Barkell clasroom room 307). There may be occasions that we will need to reschedule and a notice will be sent via email or notes at the school.

PTO School Fundraisers

All fundraiser proceeds go to the many different items for the school. The 2014-2015 fundraisers gave the ability to purchase:

Playground Equipment
Science Nights

and More!!!

PANCAKE BREAKFAST:
This fundraiser is held the 1st Saturday of December. We invite the children to sell tickets for the breakfast in which the Phi Kappa Tau are there cooking for the event.

CLIP and EARN:
Our school can earn money from labels found on regularly purchased items. Just cut them off and send them in. We sometimes have special drives, such as the Box Tops in October, but they can be sent in at any time.
